Some soft surface wear but in good shape. .The pepper has a small indent on the bottom rim, (does not affect the sitting position) and not noticeable unless youturn over and look at the bottom. The salt has some roughness on the inside and where it screws the top in.. top screws in without a hitch but you can run your hands over the silver and it has a bit of roughness from the salt that sat in the unit at one time. The holes for the salt shaker also has some darkening in areas... (my understanding is there are ways to clean the salt residue). see all photos
