    Description

Jewelry has long been an important art form among southwestern Native Americans. A history of migrations, trade, and cultural exchange
contributes to its vibrancy.  The Native Americans remain connected to their upbringing and a core set of common values rooted in tradition:
    harmony and balance,
reciprocity, respect for the family, and the importance of leading a life of significance and producing work of quality
    .
This ring is from my personal collection.  I have collected Southwestern jewelry since the 1970's.
This ring does not have a hallmark, however,
until the 1970's it was most common not to have any marks on the jewelry.  As Southwestern
    jewelry became
more popular, collectors wanted to know who made their jewelry so in the 1970's many artisans started signing their work.   The royston turquoise is set on a base of heavy gauge sterling silver.  It is set in a shadowbox setting and has a substantial band.  I have hand polished this ring with a soft polishing cloth many many times to maintain a bright shine.  You can see where the band is attached to the base that the silver is dark and aged from time.  Old silver becomes dark and can be polished back to a brilliant shine time after time.  That's the beauty of sterling.
Never out of style, Southwest jewelry is an investment in enjoyment to last a lifetime.
