Late 1800s/early 1900s Lovely Pair Sterling Silver Repousse Pepper Shakers
2 1/2 ounces together, 3 inches tall, 1 1/2 inches wide
Presented is a lovely pair of sterling silver repousse salt and pepper shakers. These shakers date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The shakers feature a beautifully hand chased floral repousse design, against a finely textured background. The lids are pierced in the same style, so these were probably originally intended as pepper shakers, paired with open salt cellars, as was common then, but they can certainly be used as a salt & pepper pair today.
The pair of shakers are in great overall condition. There are no splits, no leaks, no other dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
