Description
Antique 1928 English Sterling Silver Georgian Style Crichton Salt Pepper ShakersPresent is an antique, sterling silver pair of salt and pepper shakers made by the Crichton Brothers of London in 1928. The shakers are very heavy and are done in a late 18th through 19th century, Georgian style. The bodies are raised on pedestal bases and have never been monogrammed. The lids are pierced with decorative panels of design and have small finials.
The hallmarks on the bodies are worn, but the hallmarks on the inside of the lids are still crisp and the undersides are marked for Crichton Bros and England. Each lid bears the lion passant for sterling silver purity, the leopard's head for the city of London, a date letter n for the year 1928 and a maker's mark for the Crichton Brothers.
The shakers are the same size and design. So they should both probably be used for either salt or pepper.
This set is in great overall condition. One of the shakers has a small dent to the bottom portion of its body and few minor dings, but there are no other damages and there are no repairs.
Height: 6 inches.
Weight: 290 grams or 10.2 ounces.
